To pin on not to pin? that is the question!

Hey guys, The Sachs are coming off '380' later as they're booked in with Ben on the 8th. I've noticed a lot of people saying that they've had the struts un-pinned to allow adjustment to the damping. I've had a quote of £25.00 each + vat, is it worth me getting this done while they're away?

    Latest evo

Interesting article in the June magazine comparing the 200 cup and the 172 cup; 200 was 1.5 secs a lap quicker due to its "trick front suspension system and brakes" but the 172 was "more fun" ( I paraphrase). I believe Mr Metcalfe, who has some standing within said mag, owns a Trophy; I wonder...

    First 1000 miles.....

Hi, Having just completed a 1,000 miles since buying Trophy 383 from pm_air I thought it about time I shared my initial thoughts: Having wanted a Trophy since they first came out I have to say the car is great fun and lives up to the hype. I came close to buying one new to replace my Elise...

Front Springs - Eibach part number?

I've just suffered a broken front spring and have decided to send both front Sachs dampers down to BG Motorsport at Silverstone for a rebuild while they are off. BG Motorsport are Eibach dealers so it would be useful if I could provide the Eibach Part No. to them rather than the Renault No...

    Snow Chains

Told you I had a strange wheel question.... The Ski season's just about over now here (maybe one or two more chances but it's getting warm now) - I read in the owners manual that one cannot fit Snow Chains to the Trophy (or the 182 either I think), this is a bummer if I want to use the T to go...

    007 (sadly) for sale

Hi all, Can't quite believe i am doing this, but 007 and i will very very sadly have to part company. Reason being that the Mrs and i are saving for a new house, she has sold her Mini and is saving like mad and truth be told me keeping a 2.0 hot hatch isn't going down all that well. I also have...

    Torque Steer

I wonder if it's unavoidable?? - I seem to always get it at full bore acceleration, 2nd and 3rd gear, after 5 or 6k; I've got new PE2's and the geometry is all standard (today) - admittedly the roads are a bit cold but dry.... I'm doing the top mounts and camber bolts this weekend after which...

    Problem with my Trophy

I have a problem with it. When I go round a corner it feels quite light and tends to understeer and feel light at the front end. Furthermore if I push even slightly more the back end comes round. At first I thought I had it wrong but as daft as it sounds I went out to see if I did and provoke...

How's the suspension on UK roads?

Hi all, I currently drive a DC5 which I'll shortly be selling. One of my reasons for selling is the suspension which, though wonderful on smooth roads, is an absolute nightmare on my daily commute due to the quality of the roads near me. After 18months of ownership I'm ready to move on. I...

Do we need more? It's become clear over the last year or so that from the list of moderators only Cue actively visits let alone moderates the site and it seems even he is not able to come on as much as he once did. That's not to imply any criticism, people move on, have different priorities etc...

    Clio 200 Vs Trophy

I loved the Trophy and thoroughly enjoyed my 12 months with it, but one lazy Saturday afternoon I read about the Clio 200's top-5 finish in eCOTY and casually trundled down to the local Renault Garage to see what all the fuss was about. Three days later I placed my order. There has been a lot...

    External Mirror question

Hi everyone, just bought a T last week and am getting to know it a bit (and modding it too); have most info I need thanks to the forum but have a silly question - what is the little blob beneath the passenger side door mirror ? - looks like some sort of sensor but I'm not sure.... So far I've...

Am wanting to spend a day on 007 in the next few weeks, a kind of 'spring clean' that i put all of my car through in Feb/March, especially now the roads seem a bit tidier after all the kacky weather. I valeted professionally for 6 years, but that was about 5 years ago now so i am a bit out of...
