I think I was the first cornering force customer for the trophy dampers, I got mine done back in May.
Really friendly guys there, really know their stuff! I was actually sent there by track torque who I'm sure a few of you will have heard of, so reputable too.
I don't see it happening this...
Give these guys a call, they have been cheapest for me on any part recently: http://www.renaultcarparts.com/
Or wests renault is the dealer that trades on clio sport.
I use the Fuchs Titan supersyn which is currently on offer at opie. 5w40 fully syn is correct for the 182. And I also get a genuine filter and a new sump plug washer.
Ime 5l is just enough, then I have a top up bottle to keep in the garage or in the car on long journeys but have rarely used it...
Nice to see the loyal subscribers, who pretty much stopped the magazine from going under during the takeover, are getting the same rewards as the occasional shop goers. Oh, wait......
For anyone that has a ClioSport account: http://www.cliosport.net/forum/showthread.php?618480-TPI-Polarised-Wheel-Bolts-Locking-set-NOW-TAKING-ORDERS
Still doing deals over the phone AFAIK, and will be cheaper if you don't require locking too.
For a similar price to the sachs rears you might also consider the Koni rears instead. Thats the route I went down when one of mine went, tightens up the rear end and gives you some adjustment.
Price is probably just for the belt change, at a dealers it could easily total that.
Did any other clios run?
Chances are the RR over reads, for a true value you need to be running alongside other clios or go to RST/TDF who have a give more realistic RR figure.
Alright Ian,
Saw the Trophy today for the first time in a while, nice sticker ;)
Might be better posting over on cliosport, it's busier on there and you're more likely to get a reply :)
Did you change the fluid at the same time? Or at least run a bit of new stuff through to the rear...
Mine are mint, (and the car is for sale on here ;))
My last clio had the recaros in out of a trophy, and they had done a lot of miles and were also excellent, although had a slight problem with the stitching coming undone on one side.
Someone once told me to pull the belt all the way out, trap it in the door, and pressure wash it.
Never tried it, presume you'd have to put a towel between the belt and bodywork to protect the paint. And needs to be done on a sunny day obviously, so they dry.
Do you need more space?
That is the only reason to go R26 over a Trophy imo. I moved from an R26 to my Trophy, the T is a much more fun car to drive, better economy, less to go wrong, cheaper to insure and money in the bank as it was cheaper!
If I had a family then I'd go to an R26, as it is...
Just read (well, skimmed) all this, it was going so well and then just came to a hault :(
Still, its an awesome project, would love the land to have something like this!
Insurance is still coming down for me, 3 years NCB, 22 YO, £875 at home.
Hoping to move to york this year, it then drops to £675.
Pretty happy with that :)
Realised what has happened, I bought these off the link in here but they are the boot struts, whereas I need the bonnet strut.
Measurements here:
http://www.cargasstruts.co.uk/replacement-car-gas-struts-c-1.html?Make=BMW&Model=1+Series&Year=2009
So these would be the correct one's -...
Measuring at 425mm these
They are for a 1 series rear according to ebay, just like the other ones.

I might try fitting just one and leaving the standard one on to stop it going too high, but could this twist...
Ordered these and got them today.
They seem rather large, nearly an inch longer than the trophy one's when I offered them up to the car.
Will try and fit tomorrow but I'll be surprised if they fit without the spoiler catching on the roof.
I bought mine with similar mods (bar the spoiler) but the sale included all the standard parts, so I bought it, put it back to standard and made a tidy amount back on the parts.
Don't really see it as a problem, bar the spoiler.
