Mind often sits for a number of days, perhaps up to a week.. Is it advisible to avoid leaving it with the handbrake on and simply leave it in gear under such circumstances?

To often I just reach in and start the car to let it warm up and learnt, the hard way, that it's not a great idea to leave in gear  I just got my brother to knock up some wooden chocks which are also useful when jacking the car, less stress and movement at the point of jacking.

Naaaaah it don't make no difference, just a mixture of rust and brake dust i should imagine, just persuades the pads to stay on the disc till you give them a gentle nudge off with a bit of movement. I wouldn't want to leave the car in gear able to rock back and forth, bit disconcerting.
