Sachs damper question

I've got the front Sachs off the car ready to send for a refurb. One is definitely leaking/leaked and the other isn't looking good but the strange thing is when compressing the obviously leaky one it compresses easily like you would think, but with the other one, it's stiffer but I can push that in about 3 inches or so. It just seems to keep going and going.

Does that sound right?

Doesn't sound right that! Other ones probably going soft too! Mine wouldn't budge last time I had them off the car!

I was going to refurb them anyway but I was just amazed at how far the rod was moving on the better looking one. The other makes a hissing sound when I lean on it!
