Cleaning and protecting sach's dampers

I plan on doing an arch detail on the trophy soon and plan on giving the Sach's a scrub up aswell

Is there anything I should be aware of before I set out? Also is there anything I can use to protect the seals etc from failing

make sure the rubber gaitor covers the damper shaft and there is no splits in it etc, it's there to keep moisture and dirt out.
I would avoid pressure washing them and just give them a clean over with a wash mitt and gentle rinse.

When I repainted mine I put approx 5 layers of wheel sealant on them and a layer of carnauba wax
