Don't absolutely need to get it done for another 5k but as i've only had the car a month or so i thought i might do it early for piece of mind.

Renault Benfield - £849 inc vat with all the ancilliaries
Wylam Renault - £1116!

I know i could drive down to NorthWest but it would probably mean leaving the car overnight - both the above told me it was 9 hours worth. I was wondering whether anyone knew of anywhere else in the North East i could try?

Cheers

Thanks for the reply
it's interesting if Northwest do the work in half the time Renault quote - as this is obviously where the £ saving is.
It would be good to know whether Renault overstate the time required, or Northwest cut any corners..

As an ex main dealer technician, northwest won't cut corners, they just charge for the hours it takes. Renault will have book times for jobs which is always more than it really takes. Eg, ball joints on an e class merc took about 5-10mins a side, book time was I think an hour a side.... So they'd charge 2 hours when the car was in and out in 30mins. This is where they make money and how independants save you money.

Thanks!
i've jsut given Mickleton a ring - sounded great to start with.. cam & aux belts for around £525, but then when i asked about the rest of the service, fluids etc she reckoned about another £300..
So not a lot different to Benfield.

I need to have mine done and got the following quotes:

Renault, Waters - Letchworth = £770 (inc 20% discount)
Renault, Wests - Bedford = £632 (inc 20% discount)
Renault, Smiths - Peterborough = £672 (inc 20% discount)
Ashby Clio Specialists - Cranfield = £586 ("may be able to throw in a minor service")
JMS Tuning - Uxbridge = £499 (just cambelt/auxbelt kit) - £699 with 5yr/72k Servicing (spark plugs, coolant, filters, cam seal plugs, usual mechanical checks, etc)

All Renault quotes were in the region of £1100 for the full 72k service. However, told them mine has done only 39k miles so just quoted the cambelt change, a minor service under their "low cost Motrio" would be an additional £150. So how can Renault charge £500 more for the 72k service is beyond me. I'll be taking mine to JMS Tuning for the full works soon.

Hey Mods, heres an idea, do you think you could setup a sort of a league table of cost of this service from various garages and make it a sticky, would be quite handy as there will be plenty of Clio's coming up for this sort of service and we get lots posts on how much, where and who to take our cars to.

Braintree Renault (John Pease) are having my car next week for the 72k service and they are doing it for just under £800 with my oil and brake fluid. it's not the cheapest price by far, but they're much closer to me than renTech (who incidentally weren't vastly cheaper from memory), they were pretty much the same price as Mark Fish quoted me and the guy I spoke to (service Manager I believe) was a real enthusiast who assures me that the car will be well cared for whilst it's there.

If they do a good job, I'll plug them in future.

Ok, thanks for all of the comments on this one
the best local(ish) price i've been quoted is £325+vat for the belts and £175+vat for the major service - so just under £590 all in. This was from Reno Tech in Northallerton who someone recommended when i had my Williams, i do know 1 other person who gets his 182 serviced there and is very happy. Anyone on here heard of or used them?
thanks

Personally, when it comes to belts on the 1*2, i would always use someone recommended by a lot of people ...

That wouldnt be NW Performance - way too many horrific stories about them on CS, esp the way they do cambelts.

Have you tried http://www.birchdown.com - they have a very good rep.

What's RenTech's rep like these days? Not really heard much of them on here recently and don't get on CS anymore.

Got mine done at Mickleton Services early, think it was 68k, just the belt kits, £510. Then got the service done by a friend who works in a garage near me for £150ish iirc. So £660 all in.

Also near us is TW and S Barker,

I havent used them but hear good things about them, Father and Son Garage, Reno Specialists. I will be using these for my next service. I was going to use them for the belts done but they couldnt get me in at a time that was good for me. Think they quoted me about £650.

Also R&P woods, Jesmond sort of area i think, my mate used to race cars years back and this is where he used to take them for track prep. Think their quote was approx £675.
