I bought #491 from James on this forum in October with a view to keeping the car long term as part of my collection. My circumstances have now changed and I have the opportunity to buy a Porsche 991 and I have been told by my wife that I cant have 4 cars so the Clio and my Peugeot 205 GTI have to go to make space!
Since I bought the car I have spent a considerable amount of money getting #491 to my high exacting standards and have addressed all the items that need sorting ie Heater control unit replacement, paintwork to peeling bonnet and flaking wings, a full set of tyres (2 spare Michelle Pilot Sports will be included in the sale), replacement original aerial, full dent removal and professional body polish.
In addition the car has been to DDC Renault Specialists as soon as I collected her, and was given a full clean bill of health including the Sachs Dampers which remain in top condition.
Since I bought #491 I have done very few miles in her, and she now reads 78.956 miles.
As per the original advert from James, The car is in excellent original condition overall and has fantastic, full service history, including a file with loads of invoices and all previous MOTs. The interior, particularly the Recaros are excellent and the original alloys are virtually unmarked. (On this point the alloys are not perfect and I did contemplate having them all refurbed but decided that I could live with the minor grazes on some of them!)
New MOT valid until August 2018. Just serviced at Two Techs, including a check of the Sachs dampers. These were refurbished in 2013 and declared "bone dry" at the service. Previously had over £2,000 spend at Mark Fish early last year, so really is in excellent mechanical order. Cambelt service was done in November 2016.
5 previous owners. 2 keys.
All factory standard as far as I'm aware, apart from addition of Scorpion 192 exhaust and xenons.
Very good PS3s up front. Rears are Avons.- (I scrapped the Avons (becuase they are rubbish), kept the PS3's as spares and have treated #491 to a brand new set of sticky Federal RSRS!)
The paintwork is now beautiful, and other than one or two minor stone chips, the car is pristine and dent free as seen in the photos.
If I was keeping #491 The only thing I would do to the car is to have the steering wheel refurbished. It isnt melted and is in very good condition, but one of the thumb grips has slightly split - I understand these can be replaced for £20.00.
I honestly believe that the car is now one if not the best Trophy available on the market today. I am due to pick the Porsche up next week so could do with it gone!
As for the price, it was up for £6500 in October and I have spent over £2000 on the car getting it to a near concours standard, so I would like to obviously recover as much as possible. I know the prices for Trophys are all over the place, so I'll let you tell me what she is worth!!! (Personally I reckon with the mileage, originality and outstanding condition it has to be worth £8k all day long) That said, I need to sell her and am open to offers and happy to negotiate.
I will take my personal number plate off and it will go back to its original 06 plate (which makes #491 quite a special car as only very few I believe were registered on 06 plates!)
Please call me if you are interested and we can arrange a viewing - tel number 07921 061184. I haven't advertised #491 elsewhere as I would like her to go to an enthusiast that will cherish her!!
Many thanks
James
