    Swapped for the Trophy

Because the black wheels look much better on the 197's and 200's...and on the Trophy too in fact!

    Swapped for the Trophy

You know what, I was looking at selling my towcar at the end of this year and going back to the RS's. I looked at 197 Cups/R27's and then looked at broker prices of the 200 and decided that would be what I wanted. Just when I was thinking I do prefer the look of the 197, you post these pics...

    Arch liner removal

As Keith said there are a couple that run down the splitter too, hopefully whoever put your splitter on hasn't ignored them and screwed over them. There is also 2 on the front of the wheel arch too. Really easy job though. As you say, well worth a minute to wash over the suspension too, they...

    Trophy MPG

Get one, you won't be bothered by fuel, it won't be too much worse than what you have got (after the first couple of weeks of ownership). However what money you will spend on fuel, you wont resent paying because you will enjoy driving so much more. You wont find any car with the same performance...

    Standard exhaust worth anything?

I kept mine and put it back on to sell. Silly to cut it in half really, you never know when you may need it again.

    treat for the trophy :)

I don't think it looks quite right in the standard interior, but I know how nice they feel, so I can't blame you. I couldn't do without the CC though lol. You have got to get the inserts spayed red though, it looks so boring without IMO.

Clio Trophy on Homes Under the Hammer!

Haha very good. When they zoom right in on it too, its like the cameraman was a trophy fan.

    knocking sound on full lock

It also happened to mine from cold as I turned off of my drive. Incidentally it also happened in a 370z that I was in last night...exactly the same noise.

    NEW ZORST, NEW STICKER

My tailpipes sat slightly wonky originally and then after a bit of use it straightened up. You may just need a new exhaust hangar or 2 from Renault.

Drove my fist Trophy - couple of questions

Or just find a 182 at a dealer and drive that....they are the same in a straight line. Sounds like a dodgy one really but then saying that I have never been in a clio sport that has been much slower, even the older 172's. They are still pretty good at the bottom end of the revs but anything...

    Help with Selling Trophy!

I can't workout why anyone goes for car finance rather than just a bank loan? Finance just seems to tie you down and so more awkward.

    need help on 2 questions....?

I missed the part about him already having a viper. But in answer to your question, when you can have a used Viper for £50-odd quid now (a setup which worked great with a CAF on my car) I would not recommend spending out £400 on a new maxogen, I have always said that. Not sure whether a Maxogen...

    need help on 2 questions....?

Don't bother with a maxogen, unless you can find a cheap used one. Not sure whether they are better with or without a air feed, but I imagine with. May be worth looking at a viper with a cold air feed as great results can be had with that, but for much much cheaper. Regardless of where the...

Renault Clio 182 or Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI?

The amount that gets mentioned on PH, I wondered to what originated the ongoing joke.

Renault Clio 182 or Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI?

You still don't seem to be understanding, diesels have that high torque, very briefly...it means very little. All it means in a diesel is you would have 'more chance' of winning against a Trophy if you caught the owner unaware and it was in the bottom of the rev-range and out of the power band...

    Whos raced a Corsa VXR?

Standard for standard it will be pretty close but soon the early ones will be out of warranty and remaps will be pretty common I imagine and it'll be bye bye trophy...until the corners.

Renault Clio 182 or Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI?

I do. Diesels have a peak torque figure and that is it, the torque curves are shocking. You can't compare 300lb/ft of torque on a petrol and 300 lb/ft on a diesel for example as the diesel only has its peak torque for about 200rpm rather than a flat torque curve. I can't believe the 2 cars are...

Renault Clio 182 or Seat Ibiza Cupra TDI?

I like funny threads.... I think you have slightly overestimated the torque (curve) of a diesel though.

    New Trophy owner

Great purchase. Will be interesting to hear how the reliability is after all these miles as I have never heard of a CS this high in mileage. Enjoy it.

    Maxogen

My friend's was wedged in too, I think they are a bad design and need to be a tiny bit smaller. He split a hose of some sort trying to wedge it in and it never looked happy in there. It didn't cause any problems when it was in though.

    carbon loraine pads

They squeal a bit but they weren't/aren't as bad as you make out. I had yellows too and they weren't too bad either. When pads are working at 600-700 degrees I don't think a hot day makes much difference  You are right though, the blues are great. I did get through mine eventually...

    carbon loraine pads

did you use any copper grease? Were there any anti-squeal shims with the pads? How do you find the performance of them though? How much were they? I don't think many people have tried them.

    throttle body kits?

Met a guy on the way over to the Ring with a Ktec TB kit. Last year he made it to the ring and it blew up on the first lap, this year it blew up on the motorway 15 minutes from getting off the boat in Dunkirk. Thats enough to put me off. Have you not looked at Yozzasport or Angelworks?

Something RWD to replace the Trophy

Yeah he is after some KW's for next year, not worth the remap otherwise it will be too fast for its cornering ability. The car is a little flawed with its weight (as everything can be I guess, depends what you are used to) but it doesn't do too bad at all. He found the pads not lasting any time...

Donington, r888's, very wet = Fun!

Nice vid. Did you get instruction or just find someone in the know who was happy to give some advice? I didn't enjoy a wet donington on R888's at all  It is a very oily track and the snow didn't help either I guess, but it was moreso because the other cars and drivers were dangerous with no...

Something RWD to replace the Trophy

The guy who I mentioned earlier who had the VX220T now has a 135i. Very nice cars and very very fast. The pull on them is amazing. Very good all-rounders too, not bad for a trackday either.
  27. Matt X2C

Something RWD to replace the Trophy

If you want one of the above I would go for a VX220T. They are very reasonably priced right now and when specced up will walk all over an Exige/Exige S and still cost less. A friend had a very good example a couple of years back which I drove numerous times. It was very very fast and looked...

help (people who know about tyres)

Your tyres won't notice any difference with just 4 laps....and in 4 laps you can't possibly be driving the car hard even if you think you are so it won' be a problem at all. Just go on with normal tyre pressures too and enjoy it and take it easy.
  29. Matt X2C

    turbo conversion or throttle bodies

If you want something faster, get a faster car. Enjoy the Trophy for what it does in the bends and then move on. Don't waste 4k for such a tiny power increase.

just been an had a rolling road session

Its probably very similar sort of straigfht-line pace, but the 205 would probably be slightly quicker round track, maybe not though as the Trophy is newer and has a better set-up. It has less weight but also less power and torque than the Trophy. Trophy would be maybe a tad under 6.5 0-60 after...
