In truth, I cannot fully endorse this. I have run them for a year now, including 12 laps of the Ring, and I think they are a decent tyre. I would not say that it's track focused at all, it works fine in all weathers, including this morning crossing the Mendips with temps of 0 degrees. They...
I have MF springs and not bottomed out anywhere yet. Honestly it's not that low, and a worhwhile upgrade, especially combined with the adjustable Konis.
That's the downside of all winter tyres TBH, the compound is much softer and on warm winter days, with spirited driving, its easy to get them overheating.
I am a big fan of winter tyres, after years of using them in Central Europe. I live in the South West now, and would use them if they were more easily available, with cheap storage offered by tyre suppliers, like it is on the continent. As it stands, every winter I spend all the time thinking...
I have tried quite a number of settings, and curently believe the road optimum (for me anyway, and it is a bit driver specific) is fronts at 28 clicks from full soft, rears at 1 and quarter turns from full soft. This is very superior to the factory setting, both handling wise and in terms of...
nowhere near as stiff as the Potenza RE070 which I think is the OEM fit on the Integra's. I had them on my Scooby Wagon, and they made a great road/track compromise tyre. RS-2, as you say are a great budget tyre, if you can get them at the budget price. TBH they are only a smidgeon worse than...
The RS-2's make for a great road tyre, bit grippier than PE2 in the dry, a bit less grippy in the wet. On track they do tend to lose the grip once they exceed optimal temperature - about 2/3 of the way round the ring for example. They are also a bit noisier than PE2. On balance I will...
:D I used to be a bit of an addict, but I am getting better now
The Trophy should be able to do BTG about 8.35 when driven by someone who knows the track well, but TBH timing yourself on the ring is missing the point a bit
Sadly, due to personal circumstance No 435 is now for sale.
It has done 38 200 miles and is in lovely condition, with 5 months MOT and 6 months road tax.
Good bits:
full service history, with auxiliary belt done at 32 000
front dampers refurbed and professionally unpinned 2000 miles ago...

I have now tried F25 R1.5 and that is a great setting for all but the worst B roads. On my private litle hill climb (Cheddar Gorge at night) the overall level of grip on dry but cold road was unbeliavable, easily more than my courage to push harder. I literally was unable to induce understeer...

Etyres will do it for £106 fitted, and they will come to you (home, work etc.)
I am a big fan of the Motul RBF660 brake fluid. Dry boiling point 312, wet BP 216. It's a serious fluid, and not all that expensive either (costs about 15 quid for the change compared to 7 quid for ordinary fluid).
Anyone who has ever boiled their fluid on track before will agree that...
I would advise against the ebc set up. I have not had it on the Clio, but on a previous car and it was not good. Also the track community in general have a low opinion of ebc stuff.
FWIW, the HC Discs from Brembo combined with the Pagid (or Ferodo) pads is a great set-up for the Trophy...
I bought them from mytyres, but were relatively expensive at GBP 92 delivered. Camskils had a container on the way, expected end November, so if you can wait, it's worthwhile as I think they are doing them at GBP 65 ish. Probably best to call them and see about the container as they have been...
He showed me his 5 when I first went there, lovely car. He kept quiet about crashing it though. Sounds like he had a lucky escape. He also has a Mk1 V6 Clio, so I guess you could call him an enthusiast :D
Good heads up on the tyre pressures, as I was wondering where to start with them...
OK, after some delays, the R-S2 tyres are finally on. This is a first impressions write-up and I will follow up with another after a few weeks use.
I picked the car up yesterday in Exmouth, and as is my habit took the scenic route across Exmoor to Lynmouth, and then along the A 39 back to the...
I have a full set of R-S2 going on this week, so I will feedback on that. My advance expectation is that they will be better than PE2 in the dry, not quite as good in the wet, and slightly less durable.
Mind you I have an expensive week of my own (damper refurb, MF springs and rear Koni's, new...
