Hi guys, at the moment ive got a 197 which is great apart from the fuel costs and im thinking of selling as i want to buy a house soon and need to cut down on my monthly payments etc... and thinking about maybe 'down grading' to a trophy (if i can find a nice one for the right price, otherwise a normal 182ff)

Just wondering who has had both a 182 and a 197?, and if you can tell me what MPG you was getting in each.. so i can sort of work out if i will save much.

Thanks!

Ok forgiven a little, I've never put mine back to zero and the computer says 33. something and that is some motorway but quite a lot of hard driving as it's a weekend "toy"

My Trophy sits anywhere between 33.6 and 34.8 at the moment, door to door driving nearly every day.

My mates R27 sits about 27 to 30 depending on how he drives it.

Yes I have. Traded my FF182 in for the 197 and then bought the 'T' and sold the 197 a few weeks later.

My drive to work when I owned the 182 and the 197 was to Aston Martin Gaydon so a 60 mile a day round trip (300m a week!) consisting of 80% country lanes/B roads and 20% A46.

I would get 27-28 consistently from the 197 and 34-35 from the 182. Have changed jobs since owning the 'T' which has eliminated the A46 and now getting 32-33 but not really a fair comparison. Using super unleaded does help squeeze an extra 1-2 mpg even when having a play :D

i've got both...
trophy sits at 32mpg
R27 (early gearbox type) sits at 27mpg
obivously the trophy runs on optimax where are the R27 normal unleaded, the R27 does mostly motorway driving where as the trophy does less than 60 miles per week "around the doors"...

So far i've not acheived below 37mpg on a tank in my trophy, that's for driving to work on twisty a roads with a gridlocked town in the middle of my journey and a load of junctions etc. This is measured not using the OBC readout, although amazingly the computer readout is only 1mpg out, which tbh is nothing. My old fabia used to tell me my average over 1500miles was 62.9 and journey mpg was 65+ regularly but i never got above 52mpg in a lot of tankfuls, with diesel being a few pennies a litre more than the real deal it isn't really that much cheaper for the same thrills. I reckon if i used my trophy as softly as i did my TDi130 i'd get 42+mpg average.

Took it out for a 3 hour blast sat night on some amazing coastal B roads around the south east, didn't drop below 37 and after a days driving to work and back again it was over 38 again.

38mpg on careful motorway driving however my daily commute (2 miles) and personal use is all unrban driving and it never drops below 31mpg - thats without a heavy right foot. Runs on Tesco 99 brew. Really ragging it gets 27mpg ish

R27 with 10k miles was doing 30mpg just on my daily commute - on the same commute all 3 182's we had would do 34-36mpg; the 30mpg in the 197 soon drops to 27-28mpg when you stretch your right foot!

As i said earlier, Ive been at a constant 33 - 35 mpg ish since i got the Trophy, reset he trip computer every couple of weeks.

Reset it this week, Monday, and trying to drive everywhere in 5th gear i got approx 43mpg, highest was 53mpg and lowest was 33mpg, until Wednesday, approx 200 miles, 100 motorway and 100 door to door, when i reset it again and drove it normaly its staying about 32.8mpg.
Mind you today i did take it out and drove it like i stole it for about 45mins  .
Now its at 31mpg.
Drive everywhere in 5th.
I think if we did this we could get 500 miles per tank no probs :D .
At one point when i was driving everywhere in 5th the trip computer said i had 606miles left in the tank..
