Hey Mark.

All the 182s are outstanding hot hatches whichever model you go for. As they were so good there are plenty about - so you can be picky and haggle hard. Cambelt kit & aux belt kit should've been done by now regardless of mileage. Check condition of brakes, tyres & steering wheel. Make sure all switches and the alarm work correctly.

There was a buying guide in EVO recently. Not sure which issue but have a look on ebay or EVO web site - might be able to track a copy done. Good luck. James.

cheers James, i took this particular one out again on Saturday, got back and signed for it, pick it up on wednesday.
there are others for sale round my way for the same price, 3 in total, and their mileage is high, cosmetic damage etc, so i think ive found a diamond amongst the rough.
im normally a mid sized car type with a bit of oomph, but i like how it feels and im looking forward to picking it up. i doubt ill fettle with it, maybe an exhaust and air filter, but that'll be about it i reckon

bought it!

picked it up this afternoon, going to need a middle and rear section exhaust at some point due to 'slight deterioration', other to that everything is a ok. mega mint inside, and quite comfy too. not quite used to the amount of extra steering needed for corners yet but it will come with time. ill get some pics up at some point, i'll be claybar'ing before the weekend so its nice and smoooooth =)

Welcome to the World of Renault hot hatch ownership.

I'm a big fan of the 182s. The way they are so keen to change direction encourages you to press on. And for a modern 16valver the engine is a gem - with loads of mid-range grunt, so you can drive through a 30 or 40 mph speed limit in 4th and accelerate back up to 60 without having to constantly stir the gearbox.

They are surprisingly reliable for a Renault. And Renault dealers are universally slated as being useless.

Congrats on the purchase. Enjoy.

cheers =) really happy with my purchase, friends that have seen it and got in it have commented it cant be 7 years old, 'it still smells new!' lol

if the weather stays well over the weekend it'll be getting a thorough going over with the polish, tops. sills, door jambs, under the bonnet, any painted surface. i left my claybar in my last car and they said it wasn't there, lying toerags, so i've been looking at that P1 stuff, has anyone used it? Depth of Shine use it and the results look amazing.

if the weather holds and i get it polished, ill get some pics up

Mark, I bought a 182FF 55 Plate (Black Gold) for my wife, Great Car, always puts a smile on my face when I borrow It. Cambelt/Aux Belt Maintenance is Critical, Having the Steering wheel re-trimmed at the moment, Nasty French Leather seems to melt like Butter..
My Escort Cosworth 16 years old, Fiesta Runabout 18 years old both Leather Wheels still Mint...

yeah its a little belter apart from this bulb going, exhaust problems and deliberation with the garage and they have agreed to pay half, so an RS192 will be purchased this week :D happy times!!

love the escos, ive had 2 3door sierra's, imo the greatest piece of metal ever to have an internal combustion engine lol
