Have driven 3 different cars and have never thought of the gear linkage in any of them, I know I would have done if they were as you are describing, so I suspect the only answer is to find another one to drive so that you have some sort of comparison. Presumably it doesn't have to be a trophy...

HI, prob shouldn't get involved in this thread as the "suspension modified car" was mine, but I thought I'd just put a note in even though Steve is now selling it. I bought it with 10,300 (ish) miles on it and always planned to use it to drive to a track, to learn the track before going there...

TROPHY WANTED (when my insurance comes through)

Go read my post on # 319 on the "For Sale" section if you are really in the market for one of these. Worth your effort I promise.

#319 For sale: 13,000 miles with Mark Fish suspension setup

Now with Steve at allvehicles, and here's what he said about it.......... "This car has upgraded springs and suspension settings by Mark Fish Motorsport. These subtle modifications lower the car slightly and add extra camber to the front. As a consequence this is the best handling Clio Trophy...

#319 For sale: 13,000 miles with Mark Fish suspension setup

Got the Golf now, have to admit it's pretty good! Has literally everything from the options list except Privacy Glass, the guy who bought it new went beserk with the options list. In case any was wondering the DSG box is excellent! Btw the Trophy is off to Steve at Allvehicles soon, so...

#319 For sale: 13,000 miles with Mark Fish suspension setup

Cue: Golf GTi 5 door, good but not as focussed as the Trophy thou! (5 door bit is what clinches it obviously)

    Ski holiday

Not so good for the Eurostar, but the other place in France is Morzine. About 1 hour from Geneva airport, and a very easy drive. Snow this year is phenominal already. I snowboarded in mid Nov there this year ('07). You get on the Portes de Soleil which according to the blurb is the...

    Slip n slide

Skid training's value cannot be underestimated. I spent a 1/2 day exclusively at the Silverstone Skid Car facility 2 years ago and I can honestly say that although it was expensive I have saved several times the cost in avoiding accidents and controlling skids.............. In case you...

Engine lacks power - Any ideas?

Don't store V power for too long, I have heard from several sources that it "goes off"

    Right... I've decided.....

Sounds like the "GO" department is all sorted, time for some "STOP" attention now! DS2500's in my road car (not tracked the car yet so only road use), and they are fine. No probs hot or cold. Can't report on their track performance thou.

    Brake fluid

Well researched Oli Deffo don't mix Dot 5 with anything else. Correct again on 5.1 having higher boiling point and potential for going "hydroscopic" - getting water in it! There is one other synthetic option which resists water and boils v high, and most importantly doesn't attack...

    Brake fluid

Seconded, I run 5.1 the Trophy, and also in my race car. In the racecar I never ever have hydraulic probs, but some people I race with seem to. Don't know if it makes that much difference in the Trophy in normal use, but the added safety margin is worth it. If you are that far into...

    Trophy Lowering Springs

Me! My car now has the same spring changes as 7MAT's, Mark Fish has also set the geometry up using camber bolts at the front. It now has braided hoses and DS2500 pads (which have only done about 50 miles at the mo) In terms of feedback I have little at this point as I haven't really...

    Watchdog last night.... Clio bonnets

I think it's been mentioned on here before (or certainly Cliosport) the bonnet catch seems to have an issue, and there have been several report of bonnets flying open, obsucring the drivers view with disastrous consequences. It sounds like (& I'm no expert) the catch on a Trophy is different...
