    Exhausts

Although I don't have my Trophy anymore, if I did or was to buy another I'd go to Joe at BTB and get his exhaust with associated CAT modification. If his work is good enough for Adrian Newey's Jaguar E-Type race car, it is good enough for me. One of Formula 1's most prominent designers and...

    Trophy OEM springs £50

Sorry for the slow reply as I don't get email notifications on private messages recieved. As above 100% genuine Trophy springs. Id rather they were collected for the £50 as stated which is cheap. Posting them would be silly money with Royal Mail as thier costs have really escted over the last...

    Trophy OEM springs £50

When getting the christmas tree out if the garage attic, I came across my old Trophy springs which I forgot I had as my car had Mark Fish springs when I sold it. Removed at approx 35,000miles, no structural rust or cracks and apart from some dirt in excellent condition. £50 to anyone who...

    Thinking of getting a trophy?

I used my Trophy as a daily driver over 3.5 years putting 44,000 miles on it in the process and it was fantastic. It's comfortable, got good heating in winter, decent air con in summer. And when fitted with winter tyres completely drivable in even the worst of winter conditions thrown at it. I...

    Snow driving

I used to be a little sceptical of the merits of winter tyres haven grown up & learned to drive in Glasgow. Until you actually drive a car on winter tyres you really can't comprehend how good they actually are. In most cities and towns the main roads are usually pretty good, and you can get...

Had my new PureMotorsport exhaust fitted today!

Looks like a great system, really well made & fantastic weight reduction with some meaty looking mounts. Not sure on the de.CAT as I was always under the impression the standard 182 CAT is a 200cell & flows well. The only restriction being the reduction in pipe diameter which makes the CAT heat...

    Lowering springs

My car was much better once I fitted Mark Fish springs, Eibach camber bolts on front running 1.75 degrees negative camber and 10mins total toe out, and then added a WhiteLine rear anti-roll bar. The turn in was brilliant, the feedback increased & the rear end much more involved in the process of...

    Trophy & Civic Type-R replacements.

The Megane is rarer than a Trophy, but yeah it's not quiet as enthralling to drive but the 52mpg on my 90 mile a day commute compensates. I've read a simple re-map can yield 195-200bhp & 310-320lb ft up from 173 & 267 and an improvement on mpg. Removing DPF at same time gives even more of...

    Trophy & Civic Type-R replacements.

Within the last 4 months I've sold my much missed Trophy and my partners EP3 Civic Type-R Premier to be replaced by a RenaultSport Megane DCi175 with Cup & Lux packs making it rare as only about 390 were sold in the UK & not all with either packs never mind both. And the Civic with a late model...

How to Lubricate the top on the shock??

Are you sure it's not the bearing inside the top mount that seized meaning when you turn the steering wheel the spring is trying to turn in its seat which is possibly the clunking noise you are hearing.

    Guglielmi Motorsport - anyone used?

I've not spoken to him in a while, but a family friend Chris Rapps works there, in fact it's his rolling road they use. Due to illness I know he took a few months off, but I've not been updated on his present situation but I believe he may be bac at work.

    Trophy no. 243/500

The wheel was done by Andy (Snappy on Clio Sport) one of the first he did and I remember him saying the OEM covering was really poor quality material. I was so pleased with it I got him to do our Civic Type-R EP3 steering wheel and want a spare Megane wheel to do as although the Megane wheel is...

Suspension Woes - Any help hugely appreciated!

Although I recently sold my Trophy, I had Koni rear dampers & rebuilt adjustable front Sachs on mine & would not return to the Sachs rears as the Koni's offer a more controlled rear end. Though I also ran Mark Fish springs which are brilliant in being firm but perfectly matched to the damper...

    New Owner 243/500 from Cornwall

Who would believe that after 44,000miles of trouble free motoring the new owner after an extensive test drive on some nice twisting roads near Silverstone gets on his way for the trip home to make it about 10miles and a misfire rears its ugly head. Needless to say I felt terrible, guilty even...

    Trophy no. 243/500

Car was sold today to the first viewer who had expressed interest in the car the first day it was advertised. A really nice guy with an interesting and extensive car history, who came a considerable distance from Cornwall to my home in Northamptonshire to get it. I know he joined the site and...

    Trophy no. 243/500

With our second child due in September, we had to rationalise our cars. First the wife's Civic EP3 Type-R Premier went to be replaced by a 5 door MK5 Golf R32, now my Trophy is being replaced by a Megane RS DCi175. I've owned the car for just over 3.5years covering 44,000 brilliant miles, it...

    Winter wheels

The other thing you need to check is the centre bore so the wheel fits correctly on. As this is what ensures wheel runs true & takes the load of the wheel as bolts or nut/studs are there to provide the clamping force. You have two options if centre bore is incorrect. Too big & spigot rings can...

    one for r5 turbo lovers...

The Renault 5 Turbo 2 must be the cheapest way into a Group B era car, compared to Metro 6R4's, Lancia Delta S4's, Ford RS200 etc its a bargain. At the Classic Motosport show at Stoneleigh a few years back a bueatiful white R5T2 was for sale at only £15,000 & have to admit if I had the money I...

    Rear Koni Shocks

Mark Fish supplies either normal Koni's as per any other retailer, or his own revalved versions which are meant to offer an improvement if you do track work as work in harmony better with the front Sachs especially if the Sachs have been de-pinned and are therefore adjustable.

    55 tyres?

I run the aforementioned 15" wheels withn195/50/15 winter tyres & the car has been faultless. It's not so much the better traction that resets your parameters of what is possible on a 2wd car, but the stopping and turning abilities have to be experienced to be believed. I still haven't removed...

    My poor little Trophy :(

I echo what Dave has said, the car will be written off as that cost is well above 50% of the trade guide values which is what insurance companies use. Normally if no car hire is involved the 50% mark is pretty much cut off, if a car hire is used then cost of that adds up to overall payout and...

    Trophy Engine Bays

To get mine to a polished finish, I started with a Dremel with sanding attachments to remove the rough cast finish then moved to wet & dry paper from 400 through to 2000 grit, then in to polishing compounds. It took far too long to do.

    Gear Knob

I have a Richbrook in mine & think it's perfect, though it was fitted to the car when I bought it I thought it was OEM was so right. The Swiss Trophy's I had an aluminium gear knob that looks like the ph1 172 knob. I don't like the OEM leatherette gear knob as its not a great shape. If I...

    Front Brake Pads (Again)

I've got Pagid Blue on my car which are good from cold, superb hot. They have now done 40,000 miles on my car & are onto the 2nd set of Brembo discs. Highly recommended even if they are expensive but the extended life makes up for it.
