Hi guys, I know, this is an old thread, but I don't want to setup a new one. I would like to buy a cheap track day car and the 182 Cup seems to me as the best value for the money at this moment. Portland mentioned this: "This only comes in Inferno metallic (a rather nice pearlescent orange, hard to describe) and solid blue, often with optional white stripes." The one I'm looking on seems to me red. It has the anthracite wheels and the rear spoiler, it also doesn't have xenon lights and the AC is manual.

Any other advise how to recognize the Cup?

Sorry for my English, I'm living abroad.

Thanks
Rob

The bit too not get blinkered by is the 182 cup isnt the car the 172 cup was. Its basically a cup packed 182 with shit seats , half hearted air con and bogo lights.

the 172 cup , stripped out a 172 of abs and a/c. stuck a light weight shit interior in and and revised the suspension. its was focused to the cup title.

the 182 cup isnt.

and yes genuine 182 cups came only in inferno orange or racing blue. with or without the twin strips.

many 182 get called cups as they have the cup packs.

Thank you. I was googling the color and it is probably the orange one, it just look red.

About the weight, is the core of 182 Cup heavier then 172 Cup? I mean if I get rid of the AC, insulation, seats, etc.

I Would have thought they are pretty much all the same at a basic level.

The twin back box on a 182 might make a marginaly heavier difference. 182 doesn't have the option of a spare wheel as the wheel well is cut out to allow the twin exhaust.

Seats are great, far better and more comfortable than the faux leather in the fatty model [emoji106]

^ Yep - the 172 Cup had thinner glass on the side windows to save a little extra weight :)

The Trophy and 172 Cup also had different windscreens as they did not have the solar reflective coating found on regular 182's.

Still heresay. We need a proper test
Go for it! :)

Personally I'm inclined to believe what the RenaultSport technicians in Dieppe said when asked about it on the factory tour :) Even so, I'd be interested in seeing some hard evidence so somebody break out the micrometer!

May not need it. Dialogys (official renault parts catalog/service manuals) lists same window part numbers for a 182/Trophy (CB22) or for a 172 Cup (CB1N SPL)
