Banned Users

Ive noticed a lot of Russian and American and other nationalities being banned on here. Are they up to something or have they said something?

Im just really wondering what is is they are doing. i have looked at a couple of their websites and they all seem to be selling something. is that the reason?

Yes they're very bad. Almost all will be computer generated mails trying to sell us Viagra or russian girls. Ha little do they know we have no need of such things on this site. :)

ahhhh right. so im guessing they can get our email addresses from here and try and send us emails about waitress' in Russia?

They are just fake user accounts created by spam bots. Most of them have web links in their profile to one dodgy site or another.

The moderators have been doing a great job of flagging them up, by renaming them to banneduser and then I'll come along and delete them completely from time to time.

We could just leave them, but its nice to keep the member list tidy, and not have an over inflated mebership number when half of them a just spambots.

I'm waiting on phpBB v3 which is in late beta testing at the moment, and once that is released i will upgrade and hopefully it will be a little more resistant to the spam bots and reduce the number that can get round the controls and sign up.

cant we report them by finding their IP addresses?

I for one have more generic viagra and Russian girls than I know what to do with.
